暑い日が続いていますが、いかがお過ごしでしょうか。
今回のテーマは、「神山町阿川地区の夏祭り」です。

当社が運営しているGuest house 山姥は、神山町の阿川地区に位置しています。
Guest house 山姥から徒歩10分ほどの阿川小学校にて、8月11日に夏祭りが開催されました。 前日にお手伝いさせて頂いた会場設営の様子や、当日の様子をお伝えしたいと思います。

Japanese summer is high humidity so that many people have heatstroke every year. I insist that you should get water and minerals enoughly when you come to Japan in summer season.

Today’s topic is “The Summer Festival of Agawa area in Kamiyama town.”

RELATION inc. runs “Guest house Yamanba” which is located at Agawa area in Kamiyama town. A summer festival was held at Agawa elementary school on the 11th of August. I would like to report what we prepared on the previous day and what there were on that day.

 

Agawa is noted for its Plum Blossoms

Agawa area is Central Kamiyama, and the Hiroishidani river which is a part of Yoshino river system flows through this area. The prefectural road is popular for the Shikoku pilgrimage route, which is the way for the 12th temple. The pilgrims usually wear white uniform. These days I was surprised to find many pilgrims from foreign countries, so the Shikoku pilgrimage is more popular culture in the world than I thought.

Agawa area is also famous for the plum blossoms which number is about 16,000. They tell us that spring has come every year by their pink or white flowers on the end of February. The scarecrows on the roadside are also special feature of this area. Some are dressed up like pligrims, some are like playing children. They are updated in every three months.

 

The Festival for Children Returning to their Grandparents’ Home

Lots of children once went to Agawa elementary school which was the site of summer festival. However, it is closed because the number of student seriously reduced. Many families return to thier hometown during the summer vacation. Locals organize the summer festival to make their grandchildren fun every year.

My colleagues and a trainee of monosus, inc. helped to set the site up on the previous day. We elaborated the flower ornaments at the Karaoke stage, and that made delightful atmosphere of the festival site. Actually, locals were pleased to see the stage set up by us.

Many young families with children enjoyed the festival on that day. Not only the competition of Karaoke but also the fireworks were held, and Shishimai were demonstrated at the front of the stage. Shishimai is Japanese traditional lion dance, which has different styles for each region.

 

Get Familier with Locals

Though I am from Oita prefecture, I have started to live in Tokushima prefecture for work since last December. I realized to make good relationship amongst locals in Kamiyama town. This is because I often participate in local events and joined making scarecrow communitiy. I need to create a new job with this relationship and sell it. The brand-new job has not been defined, but I would like to challenge it with the mind of “Just do it”.

 

梅の里、阿川

 

阿川地区は神山町の中央部に位置し、吉野川水系である広石谷川(ひろいしだにがわ)の流れに沿って県道が整備されています。
この県道は、四国八十八ヶ所霊場の第12番札所である焼山寺へのお遍路道となっており、白衣に身を包んだ巡礼者を多く見かけます。最近は、多くの外国人も巡礼に訪れており、外国からの関心の高さが窺えます。

また、阿川地区は梅の木が約16,000本あり、梅の名所として知られています。
2月下旬頃からピンクや白色の花が咲き、春の訪れを知らせてくれます。 あちこちの道路脇には、子どもやお遍路さんに扮した案山子が設置されていることも阿川地区の特徴のひとつです。
約3ヶ月ごとに置き換えられるのですが、新作が毎回楽しみです。

 

帰省中の子どもたちのための祭り

阿川地区の夏祭りの会場になっている阿川小学校は、かつては多くの子どもたちが通っていました。
しかし、生徒数が減少し続け、現在は廃校となっています。
地元住民の方たちは、夏休みに帰省してきた子どもたちに楽しんでもらいたいという想いで夏祭りを運営しています。

当社の社員や、㈱モノサスのメンバーと会場設営のお手伝いをしに行ったのですが、カラオケ大会の舞台となる足場を組み、軽食を販売するテントを設置すると、楽しそうな祭りの雰囲気が出来上がりました。

皆でカラオケ会場を彩る花飾りの角度にこだわった成果か、「今までで最高の会場の雰囲気だ」 と住民の方たちに喜んでもらえました。

 

夏祭り当日は、小学生くらいのお子さんを連れた若い家族連れで賑わっており、カラオケ大会や軽食の出店だけでなく、夏の風物詩である花火も打ち上げられました。
地区によって振付などの特徴が異なるという獅子舞も披露され、会場を盛り上げていました。

 

地域に根付く

大分県出身の私ですが、縁あって徳島県に移り住み、神山町に関わり始めました。
お祭りなどの地域の行事や、阿川地区で盛んな案山子づくり体験をきっかけとして、少しずつですが、地元の方たちとの関係性が構築されていることを実感しています。
この関係性を活かして、価値を感じてもらえるようなサービスを新しく創り、提供することが当社の仕事です。それがイベントなのか、出版物なのか、体験型ツアーなのか。
まだどういう形にするか未決定ですが、「やったらええんちゃうん」の精神で邁進したいと考えています。
