最近、駐車場でお留守番をしていた他所の犬に触ろうとして、指を噛まれた穴井です(笑)。
今回は、9月1日よりスタートしました「神山塾8期」についてご紹介します。

神山塾7期生として、去年の12月から神山町に関わり始めた穴井も、いつの間にか神山塾の運営をサポートしています。神山塾を経験しているだけに、独自の視点を反映できるように模索中です。
神山塾がどういうものか、8期生がどういう生活を送っているかなど、いつものように英語文章を交えてお伝えします！

Last weekend I played in the upstream of Yoshino river, and I found a dog waiting for his owner in a car parked at the Blue Villa Anabuki. I wanted to touch him and reached my hand, but my middle finger was suddenly bitten lol.

This time, I would like to introduce about the 8th kamiyama juku which is a training program to solve local problems. It has started since the 1st of September.

Actually, I graduated the 7th kamiyama juku at the end of last March. It is supposed to be strange that I support to organize it, but I would like to try to reflect my opinion as a graduate.

I explain to you what kamiyama juku is and how trainees live in Kamiyama town.

 

Continue 6 years! It’ll be over 100 graduates at this term!

 

The kamiyama juku has started since December 2010, which is a training program to solve local problems. Trainees come from all over Japan, and they have various kinds of careers.
They stay in Kamiyama town and learn how to plan local events, hold them and make documents for start their own business.
Also, trainees have experienses to support farmwork and participate local events. Its characteristic is becoming familiar with local community by making relationships.
When I went to a post office in Kamiyama town to sent some parcels last week, I was speaked to by a post officer.
“Did you come to Kamiyama as a trainee of the kamiyama juku?”
I felt the kamiyama juku already spreaded amongst kamiyama people.

The number of graduates is 93 to the 7th kamiyama juku.
8 trainees come to Kamiyama town for the 8th kamiyama juku.
The kamiyama juku is definitely a part of changes in Kamiyama town because many graduates continuously stay and work in Kamiyama town. It influenses young people who live in urban area to settle in Japanese rural area.

 

Hearing from the 8th trainees(?)

I went to the Kamiyama Ski Land Hotel where the 8th trainees live together for the first month because I wanted them to talk about how they felt about Kamiyama town.
But I just enjoyed a chat at the moment so that I could not manage the formal interview lol.
I found they really enjoyed the environment of Kamiyama town. For example, they sometimes get mushrooms after the carriculum, and sometimes they tried to make a pizza’s oven with bricks and stones.

Kamiyama juku’s program is just 6 hours for a day.
Trainees can spent long free time everyday.
I am supposed that they can prepare for start-up, make friends at local events, read books in the silent atmosphere or walk around in the nature. It is up to them, and sounds so fun!

 

Sometimes in the class room, sometimes in the field

Kamiyama juku’s first program is always practice to introduce of yourself. Kamiyama town is famous for developing rural town, and Kamiyama people have challenge sprits. This is why many challengers come to Kamiyama town from all over Japan and launch something new business. I guess it is so difficult to give strong first impression to people who live in Kamiyama town. It is supposed to be important to practice unique introduction of yourself.

However, I could not properly introduce of myself impromptu even I am staff of kamiyama juku. I found that most important thing is not learning how to manage it uniquely but “ understanding who I am”. For instance, what moved me strongly, what is my standard of decision and what is my interests?

Kamiyama juku’s trainees have many opportunities to realize myself. I think everything is good no matter how you feel when you have something new experiences. What most important thing is reflection of yourself and acquisition of your opinion.

Trainees can reflect of theirselves through the training term, and also they can spent a long time to think about each ideal lifestyle and future plan. Talking about myself, I was too busy to think about them when I worked for a previous corporation. The habit of reflection which I learned from the 7th kamiyama juku is the important staff of my life.

The kamiyama juku’s program is not only in the class room but also in the field. We sometimes visit familiar farmers to support harvest of rice in Kamiyama town. They don’t use any chemicals so that we needed to sort barn grass in the rice field beause farmers don’t sell barn grass with rice.
It depends on trainees’ way of thinking what they learned from this experience. I really recommend to have a reflection time everyday because these experienses help us to realize myself.
And also, we can learn “a sense of society” from such experiences. I think trainees will feel  something differences to eat rice next time.

Kamiyama juku is constructed from various kinds of programs. For example, group works to discuss one theme, agricultural experiences, planning original business and take presentation about that.
I am supposed that some trainees would wonder if they could not understand the purpose of programs. However, I believe that its purpose is not given but discovered by theirselves.

I relate many people and experience a wide range of tasks as a business person. A process of making answers always gives me progress and discover something new. Of course, it is not that everything is correct.
I feel my progress from kamiyama juku’s program by making own purpose and meaning. For example, I conquered personal problem to relate someone kindly, and I got many proper feedbacks from the other trainees. As a result, my personality reached an ideal a little bit.

Kamiyama town likes the ways for success rather than idea killers.
I strongly promise to support trainees who want to challenge their targets.

足掛け6年！ 100人目の卒塾生がこの中に！

地域の活性化に携わる人材を育成する神山塾は、2010年12月より始まりました。

関東圏の若者を中心に、日本各地から多様な経歴をもった人材が集まり、神山町に滞在しながらイベントの企画や実践、起業するために必要な事業計画書の作成を行います。
また、町内にお住まいの方たちの農作業のお手伝いをしたり、地域の行事にも参加しながら、神山町に根付いていくことが特徴です。
つい先日、神山町内の郵便局を利用した際も、局員の方から 「塾で来たんかいの～?!」 と、声を掛けられ、神山塾が地域に浸透していることを感じました。

私が所属した7期までに卒塾した人材は、93名に上ります。
8期生は、北は北海道、南は高知県から8名が集まりました。
卒塾後も神山町内で活動されている諸先輩方を中心として、今期で100名を超える人材たちが、神山町の変化の一助となっていることを、運営スタッフでありながらも実感しています。

8期生に話を聞きました（？）

神山塾の授業後に、塾生たちが合宿生活をしている神山スキーランドホテルへ8期生たちに話を聞きに行きました。
神山塾に参加したきっかけや、一週間過ごした神山町の印象など、形式ばったインタビューをするつもりでしたが、あっちやこっちへ話が脱線(笑)。
自然に囲まれたスキーランドホテルの環境を楽しみながら、キノコを採集したり、休日にピザ釜を作ったり、思い思いの時間を過ごしている様子を垣間見ました。

最初の1ヶ月間、このスキーランドホテルで合宿生活を送るのが神山塾の定番ですが、私は7期生時代、1ヶ月遅れて塾に合流したため、合宿生活を経験していません。 引率の先生がいない修学旅行のようで、なんとも楽しそうです。

神山塾の授業は1日あたり6時間で、それ以外の時間は自由に使うことができます。
将来起業するための準備をしても良いですし、イベントに参加して友人を増やすのも良いでしょう。
静かな環境で読書に耽るのも良いですし、自然の中で散歩を楽しむのも良いですね。

ある時は教室で学び、ある時は現場で学ぶ

神山塾では、まず自己紹介の練習をします。神山町は地方創生の先進地域。
強力な個性をもった人たちが、新たに神山町に入ってきては、新しいことを試そうとしています。
そんな環境で、初めて会った人に強い印象を与えるのは至難の業。身近な道具や季節、動物に例えてユニークな自己紹介をしたいところ。

授業中に、スタッフである私自身が即興で自己紹介するように指名されたのですが、なかなか上手くできませんでした。ユニークな手法を覚え、いつでも言える準備をすることも大事ですが、それ以上に大事なことは、「自分を紹介するためには、自分を知っている必要があること」 であると感じました。 どういったことに喜怒哀楽を感じるか、過去にどういう基準で決断をしてきたか、何に関心があるのか。

神山塾は、自分を知る機会の連続です。新しい環境に身を置き、初めて会う人と話し、新しい価値観に触れ、その結果、自分がどう感じ、何を考えるか。それを好きでも嫌いでも、楽しくてもつまらなくても、なんでも良いんです。なぜそう感じるのか、時間を取って、考えることで自分自身を見つめることができます。

こういった神山塾の時間を通して、自分自身が望む今後の 「暮らし方」 や 「自身のあり方」 をゆっくりと考えることができます。
私自身、以前勤めていた会社では、心を亡くすような忙しさで働いていたため、自分らしさを失うときもありました。それだけに、神山塾で身に付けた内省する習慣は、自分の糧になっています。

教室内で座学を行うだけでなく、時にはお世話になっている神山町内の農家さんのところへお邪魔して、稲刈りのお手伝い。 農薬を使っていないので、稲以外にも、稗(ひえ)が伸びています。 手作業で丁寧に根っこから抜き取り、稲に混ざらないように選別します。 稲刈り体験ひとつにしても、ただ 「楽しかった」 で済ませるのかどうかは、自分の考え方で変えられます。
例えば、なぜ稗を根っこから抜き取らなければならないか、どのタイミングで稗が田んぼに混入しているのか、刈り取った稲がどういう工程で精米され、出荷されているのか、考え出したらキリがありませんね(笑)。

こういった体験からは、インターネットやテレビだけでは得られない 「感覚的な学び」 を得ることができます。 普段、何気なく食べているお米も、食卓に並ぶまでの工程を知ることで、これまでとは異なる視点からいただくことができますね。

神山塾は、グループワークや農場体験、単独で企画書を作成し、プレゼンテーションを実施するスモールプロジェクトなど、様々なプログラムで構成されています。
なぜこのプログラムをやるのか、理由が分からず、戸惑うこともあるかもしれません。
しかし、プログラムに取り組む理由は、与えられるものではなく、自分で見つけるものだと思います。
社会人として多くの人に接し、様々な仕事を経験していく中で、正解の無い答えを考えるプロセスが新たな気づきを生み、自分自身の成長につながりました。
神山塾のプログラムも自分なりの目的意識や目標をもって取り組んだことで、苦手だったことが無理なくできるようになったり、一緒に取り組んだ他の塾生から的確なフィードバックを得られ、その結果、自分の内面的な変化や成長を実感しています。

神山町は、「できない理由よりも、できる方法」 を求める風土があります。
新しい神山塾生たちが新しいことに挑戦するサポートを、運営スタッフとして全力で行う所存であります。
